Kathryn Laverne (Hughes) Briggs

Kathryn LaVerne (Hughes) Briggs of Cumming, Ga and formerly Westerville, Ohio passed on July 4, 2026 at 93-years -old. Born on December 12, 1932.

Kathryn was a graduate of Somerset High School and Capital University. She taught for three years in the Westerville Public School System before staying at home with her children. She later worked for auctioneers and as an administrative assistant at several offices. She volunteered at the Church of the Messiah some in her later years. Her interests included crossword puzzles, Game Show Network, puzzles and games, reading, watching church services from Church of the Messiah while living in Georgia, Chick-fil-a frosted coffees and especially family!

Preceded in death by her parents Harry G. Hughes and Mary Pauline (Mayme) (Harris) Hughes, Siblings Margaret Betty (Hughes) Colston, Mary Ellen Hughes, and Harry E. Hughes; husband Joseph W. Briggs and infant son Philip A. Briggs.

Survived by her children; Joseph M. Briggs (Shirley Belknap Briggs), Jerry H. Briggs (Tara Carroll Briggs)
and Mary Kay (Briggs) Kibler (Christopher Kibler); grandchildren; Lorelei Briggs, Elyse (Kevin) Benner and Gwynne (Brian) Kron, Ian (Jordan) Briggs, Dylan Briggs, Anna Briggs, Collin Briggs, Andrew Briggs, and Ava Briggs, Katey (Zane) Williams, Jillian Kibler (Fiancé Ezekiel McDowell); great-grandchildren;
Maxwell and Lillian Benner, Carrigan and Caitlyn Briggs, Zeke, Flint and Farrah Williams; and beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Saturday from 9-10 a.m. followed by a service at 10 a.m.. Interment Somerset Cemetery, Somerset, OH.
