Cathy Ann Townsend-Bunting

Cathy Ann "Cack" Townsend-Bunting, age 59, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026 surrounded by family.

Cathy was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 3, 1966. She was a 1984 graduate of Westerville South High School. She helped run the family owned business, T & M Sunoco, worked as a school aide at Hawthorne Elementary School and with special needs children as a teacher’s aide at Blendon Middle School. But her real passion was driving special needs kids for Tristar Transportation Company for more than 15 years. She loved each of those children very dearly and was able to communicate with them in many different ways, even the non-verbal.

Cathy loved pugs! Her house was adorned with pug pictures and collectibles. She fostered and rescued many pets over the years!

As an avid football fan, Cathy took great pride watching her grandsons play football, which included seeing two win the District Championship at Claymont HS and another making it to the State Semifinals for two years in a row at Big Walnut HS. She loved her Ohio State Buckeyes and hated watching them lose a game. But her real passion and loyalty was with the Cleveland Browns! The neighbors could probably hear her from time to time yelling, “pull up your socks!”

Cathy was preceded in death by her mother and best friend, Shirley (Metcalf) Townsend and her father, Bob Townsend.

She is survived by her siblings, Cindy (Bill) Henson and Ed (Steve) Townsend; sons, Josh (Mindy) Bunting, Jonny (Katie) Bunting, and Matt Bunting; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially Dakota, Kaden, Tikwan, Jayla, Deuce, Brandon, Cash, Calvin, Kylie and Paxtyn; nephews and nieces, Justin (Erin) Hibbitt, Amy Pirkey, Erica (Rob) Elliott, Hayden and Tristen Townsend; great nephew, Kamden Hibbitt; great niece, Kadence Hibbitt; dear friend Kathy Bobb and step-mother, Stella Townsend.

Thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses at St Ann’s Hospital for their diligent efforts and loving support, and to her wonderful neighbors for their help and friendship over the past few years.

Friends may call From 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, OH. A fuenral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Akers officiating. Burial will conclude in the Blendon Central Cemetery in Westerville, OH.
