Visitation

Sunday, October 12th from 1-4 PM at their home

David Charles Mylander, 85 years old, of Westerville, Ohio passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, Saturday, September 20, 2025 at St. Ann's Hospital, He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton Charles and Jeannette R. Clapham Mylander, and recently his older sister, Millicent J. Mylander of Sulphur, Louisiana and younger brother, Kenneth W. Mylander of Columbia, South Carolina.

David is survived by his much loved wife of 46 years, Manuella Wyant Mylander, and his treasured children, Lisa Reade (Steve), Amy Berry (James), David H. (Hank), and Zachary, along with four wonderful grandsons, Nicholas Reade and his wife Darby, Mitchell Reade and his fiancee Anya, Benjamin and Jackson Mylander, as well as many loving nephews, nieces, sisters- and brothers-in-law, and special cousin-in-law, Barbara Clapham.

David was a proud member of Westerville Class of '58. He worked over 40 years in radio advertising in Columbus at WBBY, WTVN, WHOK, and The Blitz. He loved his clients and considered many of them good friends. David had the best, although somewhat inappropriate, sense of humor and loved to tell stories about his childhood, growing up in Westerville. He was known as a man who loved the challenge of fixing anything broken, and was a "car whisperer" when it came to clicks and clacks. He was most comfortable in the great outdoors, and enjoyed camping, biking (completing TOSRV 17 years), sailing (racing sailboats at Hoover Yacht Club and on Lake Erie), snow and water skiing, hunting with his beagles, flying kites and fishing with his grandsons, and traveling. David was a life-long Lutheran and a member of Peace Lutheran in Gahanna where he had many caring friends. David was fiercely proud of his children, and loved to be surrounded by family and friends, eating, talking, and laughing as he did at his recent 85th birthday party. In keeping with his wishes, a private family service will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The National Parks Foundation, Westerville Area Resource Ministry, or Peace Lutheran Church. The family is happy to share pie, coffee, and memories at their home Sunday afternoon 1-4, October 12. Please RSVP to 614-507-3132.

We have fond memories of Dave from our days with American Youth Hostels, dating back to 1969. Always welcoming and helpful to us “younger” members of the group. A genuinely good guy. It was a pleasure to know you Dave.

Dave was a great guy and neighbor. I will miss his smiling and friendly face calling out to me from the front print. Manuela, know that you gave Dave a wonderful life.
