It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Dianna Simone Sayre, 44 years old; beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and professional, fell asleep in death on January 9th, 2025 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Dianna was born to Billie and Martha Payne on December 12, 1980, in Columbus, Ohio. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Sayre; daughter, Stella Sayre; father, Billie Payne; siblings (and spouses): Bill Payne; Deborah (James) Johnson; Donald (Winnie) Payne; and Des’Aray (Ryan) Karr; parents-in-law, Art and Shirley Sayre; sisters-in-law, Rachel Sayre and Julianna (Todd) Lingo; brother-in-law, Alex Sayre; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dianna is preceded in death by her mother, Martha Payne; brothers Douglas Payne and Tracy Payne; and her niece Jade Payne.
Some of Dianna’s most notable and treasured accomplishments include earning a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, Human Resources, in 2003, from The Ohio State University; the 16 year portion of her HR career spent with Abercrombie & Fitch; being baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1998; marrying Joe in 2001; and giving birth to her beloved daughter, Stella, in 2020.
Her death will impact the lives of all those she loved, worked and worshiped with. She was passionate about those she cared for, personally and professionally. Her intelligence, work ethic and dynamic personality made her a pillar in every community that enjoyed her company.
For those of us who worshiped with her, we lost a sister.
For those of us who worked with her, we lost a leader.
For those of us who called her family, we lost a friend, a pillar of strength and a source of unconditional love and support.
But her absence will be felt the most at home, by Stella and Joe, who lost a first and forever love.

Dianna had a great sense of humor and absolutely lit up a room with her laugh. I grew up sitting next to her throughout our school career because our last names put us together alphabetically. Dianna was always friendly and helpful and she made me laugh all the time! I admired how intelligent and strong she was as a young woman. She had big plans and dreams and everyone who met her just knew she’d make them happen! Marrying the love of her life and becoming a mom were two of her biggest dreams come true! Dianna was a bright light in this world and it’s devastating that she is no longer in it. Condolences to her family and friends.
