Grace Emma Marie Sima, 96, of Westerville, Ohio passed away June 10, 2024 at Inniswood Village. Born October 1, 1927, in Cleveland, OH. Grace shared a long, joyous, and extraordinary life filled with love, laughter and faith. The daughter of William and Emma Fanslau, she grew up on a farm in Gladwin, Michigan with siblings Richard and David. As a child of the Depression, she learned the value of hard work from a young age, an oft-noted trait that never waned during her long life. Grace married Myron J Sima in Richland, Washington  while he was in the US Army. She was the mother of Linda (deceased), Myron J.W., and Kurt (Brenda). She loved her family, especially grandchildren, Emmalee and Clark. Always working, Grace retired from Westerville City Schools and Whittier School.

She loved Jesus and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Westerville for over fifty-four years. Grace always made time for others, attending countless sporting events, doing volunteer work whenever asked, as well as cooking fantastic meals including her famous cheesecake and nut rolls. She enjoyed gardening, travel, family gatherings, a good polka and a nice glass of wine. She will be missed by her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law (and wine drinking partner Aunt Pat) and countless friends.

Special thanks to the Inniswood Village team, and her rockstar hospice nurse Bruce! A graveside service will take place on June 22, 2024 followed by a Celebration of Life at Carfagna's Ristorante on Gemini Place from noon to 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Grace Lutheran Church or Westerville Resource Ministry (WARM).

Dear Family- it was a joy to know & worship with your Mom and Linda - and loved seeing you you boys either at church or when I was delivering communion to either of them! I had the privilege of bringing her communion the last 6 months and was so encouraged by her deep and abiding faith and love for Jesus! I will miss talking with 'my Annhurst Mom' about the neighborhood and growing up at Grace - I heard from her the same faith and wisdom I heard from my Mom - those Lutheran Mom's are so special! Praying for your comfort at this time but celebrating the wonderful Mom you had - thanks for sharing her!

Kathy and Bill Snead - Jun 20, 2024

Bill and I became members of Grace Lutheran in 1985. As a new young mother, Grace, like so many others at the church became a surrogate Grandmother for our children. Their own grandmothers were many miles away and visited a couple of times a year but it was always the surrogate grandmothers at the church who offered smiles, kind words, and cookies every week on Sunday morning, during VBS, for youth performances, for school honor rolls, and at many other church events. They were the best of role models. Later when I worked at the church Grace was there to offer me words of encouragement and support, and after 30 years of church membership she was there to wish us well as we moved to Florida. Some of my own grandchildren are many miles away and I pray they have a Grace at their church. Grace (and Linda) are remembered and missed by my family and I am sure by all that were fortunate to know them.
