Dave was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He served as a Radioman in the United States Navy stationed in Hawaii and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged after six years of service.

In his early years of life Dave enjoyed hunting, riding dirt bikes, water, snow, and cross-country skiing, as well as photography, developing his pictures in a dark room he made in his house. He also enjoyed westerns, golfing, playing soccer, and coaching his sons soccer teams.

His love of soccer led him to become a die-hard Columbus Crew fan. He served the Columbus Crew for nearly 25 years. Dave began as a volunteer distributing programs, later served as an usher, and ultimately worked as an Area Coordinator. Prior to The Crew, he had a long career in Information Technology (IT), most notably with Aetna and Abbott Labs.

Dave is survived by his wife, Kathy Stockwell; her daughters, Stephanie (Scott) Riehle, Melissa Poon, Jessica (Mark) Nixon; his sons, Daniel (Holly) Stockwell and Michael (Jennifer) Stockwell; their mother, Nancy Stockwell, and eight grandchildren: Aspen, Anthony, Tristan, Trenton, Kayleigh, Sophie, Evelyn, and Aubrey; as well as his brother, Grant (Paula) Stockwell; sister, Nancy (Tony) Clark; and sister-in-law, Annalyn Stockwell; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sylvanus and Wilma Grace Stockwell; brother, Dean Stockwell and first-born son, Kevin Stockwell.

There will be a visitation service Sunday, December 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 pm followed by a funeral service with military honors Monday, December 4th at 2:00 pm at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Rd, Westerville, OH 43081.
