Gary Cox, beloved father, grandfather, and friend passed away surrounded by his loving daughters Wednesday April 26 th at St. Anns hospital.

Born September 8 th 1943, in Stuttgart, Arkansas to Cletus and Catherine Cox; Garys father was serving in the United States Army during World War II at the time of his birth. Garys family relocated to Hartford, Illinois where Gary spent his youth.

Gary worked most of his life in the packaging industry, beginning at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Chicago; eventually moving to Central Ohio where he owned his own successful business for many years.

Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela. He is survived by his daughters, Kelly and Corey, granddaughters Brady, Aubrey and Marley, and sons-in-law Peter and Richard.

He was well-traveled and enjoyed sharing stories of his travels to Greece, Hawaii, and sailing the Caribbean. Gary had many brushes with fame meeting celebrities as diverse as Tina Turner, Elvis Presley, Jane Pauley and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in person simply by being in the right place at the right time.

Gary was a rabid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and loved golf. He especially enjoyed the Masters and Memorial tournaments every year. He enjoyed the Fido channel and was especially fond of Airedales.

Gary possessed a wry sense of humor and like many of his generation, marveled at new technology. If he had a question or wanted to learn a new fact, he would often ask us to consult the machine - meaning Google. He was amazed by the many changes to the world during his lifetime.

Gary enjoyed lifes simple things, being surrounded by his daughters and family, enjoying a good meal, followed by a slice of pie, and a toothpick was all he needed to find serenity. He will be sorely missed, and we are truly thankful he is at peace.

An intimate family gathering will be held to celebrate his life at Moreland Funeral Home.

Condolences
