BECK

1932-2017 Kenneth D. Beck of Westerville and Put-In-Bay, OH died peacefully on his 85th birthday on Thursday, June 29. Ken was born in 1932 in Columbus, OH to Norman and Helen Beck. He was a 1950 graduate of Old Columbus North High School and The Ohio State University, where he earned a BS in 1954, and a Law degree in 1966. From 1954-1956, Ken was a 2nd Lt. in the Counter Intelligence Corps of the US Army. Ken joined the law firm of Vorys Sater Seymour & Pease where he was a partner in the Trusts and Estates practice group. A talented piano player, Ken thrilled audiences with boisterous sing alongs at local Put-In-Bay establishments and at “Piano Parties” hosted at his home (where he could play almost any song from a certain era by ear). Ken was a Member of the Church of the Master United Methodist and, during the summer months, St. Paul Episcopal Church where he was often a guest organist. Ken served on the Board of Directors of the Westerville Library, Lake Erie Island Historical Society and the Perry Group. He was also a longtime supporter of Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Columbus Zoo. Ken was deeply committed to his family and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Frances (nee Larcomb); sons, Norman (Elizabeth) Beck of Chicago, IL and Joseph (Maria) Beck of Silver Spring, MD; nephew, David (Karen) Petree of Clintonville, OH; stepson, John (Elizabeth) Burley of Alexandria, VA; and grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, Katherine, Kenneth and Wesley. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Beck. Private graveside service will be held at Blendon Central Cemetery, Saturday, July 8, 2017, Pastor Char Schultz, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Columbus Foundation Gift of Kindness Fund. Condolences at www.morelandfuneralhome.com

Condolences

Kelly Swedberg - Jul 7, 2017

Norm – So sorry for your family’s loss; your father sounded like a great man. Will be thinking about you.

Karen Dennis - Jul 3, 2017

I have been retired from Vorys for almost 20 years but have such vivid and fond memories of Ken. He was always such a gentleman and he and I worked on many projects together. The music will seem muted without his wonderful piano playing. My thoughts are with the Beck Family.

Our condolences to the Beck family in the loss of your loved one.
