James Michael Gibson, 77, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024. Born on March 21, 1947, in Columbus, James spent his entire life in the city he called home.

He is survived by his loving children, Jason and Kristen Gibson, and his cherished grandchild, Quinn. He also leaves behind his devoted sisters, Janice and Marianne, who were a constant source of support and love throughout his life. James was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Dalka Gibson, and his brother, David Gibson.

James had a long and fulfilling career as a draftsman at The Ohio State University, where he meticulously drew plans for the campus before the advent of computer-aided design. Outside of work, he was a man of many passions. He enjoyed going on his daily walks and working on puzzles. He was also an avid gamer who held multiple aircraft certifications, logging thousands of flight hours during his lifetime.

One of Jamess favorite traditions was traveling to the Outer Banks each year with his family. It was a place where he could relax, unwind, and enjoy the simple joys of being together with the people he loved most.

Faith was central to Jamess life. As a dedicated member of the Spring Road Church of Christ, he found great purpose and pride in maintaining the churchs property, particularly in mowing its grounds with care and diligence.

Above all, James was a loving father and grandfather who always did his best in life. He was deeply committed to his family, his faith, and his community, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and integrity.

Visitation will be held at Spring Road Church of Christ, January 8th from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. A small funeral gathering will be held directly after, private for family and close friends.

Condolences

William Busche - Jan 5, 2025

To the Gibson family: Jim was a member of the "Four Cousins" whom we respected for his creativity and his calm demeanor. Patti and I cherished his visits to our home where we shared many evening taco meals. I have great respect for the way my cousin Jim conducted himself, and will miss him greatly. Bill and Patti
