DEMOREST


James Albert Demorest, age 90, of Westerville, OH. October 17, 2011 at St. Ann’s Hospital. Born April 10, 1921 to the late Carmel and Esther Demorest. Retired as a Prudential Insurance agent. Graduate of Westerville High School and The Ohio State University. Member Church of the Messiah United Methodist. Veteran of U.S. Navy Air Force during World War II where he was a flight instructor stationed in Iowa City, Iowa. It was there he met his future wife, Virginia Martin, at a service men’s dance and they were married June 11, 1944 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, then after the War, moved back to Westerville to raise their family. Jim was an avid tennis player, enjoyed golf, bowling and baseball. Survived by his loving wife, Virginia; children, Tom (Margaret) of Marion, IA, Dana (Bernice) of Sunbury and Jayne (Bruce) O’Keefe of Westerville; son-in-law, Maury Cook of Westerville; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchilden. Preceded in death by daughter, Linda Cook, brothers, Dr. William Demorest and Glen Demorest. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where service will be held Friday at 2 p.m., Rev. Jim Wilson, officiating. Interment Otterbein Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Manor Care Westerville for their kind care.
