Dale J. Kosmatka, age 74, of Westerville, OH passed away December 4, 2022 at home. Survived by his wife of 31 years, Judy; daughters, Amy (Melissa White) Kosmatka, Emy Kosmatka, Kelly (Ian) Weber and Jessica Sharpe; son, Bobby (Shannon) Kosmatka; grandchildren, Cole White, Stella Kosmatka and Leo Kosmatka; brother, Terry (Kim) Kosmatka; sister, Judy (Carl) Poe; brother-in-law, Mike Mullins; nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and George Kosmatka, and sister, Roberta Mullins.

Dale was a people person in the most fun and loving way. In his phone, he kept a copy of his personal motto: "Treat others as you want to be treated...Life's too short, enjoy it...Given time, everything will work out...There is always someone worse off than you, count your blessings". He loved to laugh, making himself the target of most jokes. His facial expressions and (where did THAT come from?) one-
liners kept us all in stitches. Dale loved his family fiercely by wanting to be with them while also not forcing himself upon any of them. He enjoyed spending hours helping them do home repairs or by making furniture or stained-glass items for their homes. Most recently, he spent 3 years making a doll house for his granddaughter Stella.

Dale put himself through college at Miami of Ohio while married and raising the first two of his wonderful children. He worked for 33 years in Motorists Insurance's (Now Encova) IT department. As one if its managers, he worked hard, accomplished much for the company, and enjoyed goofing around with all his staff during, before and after work.

After retirement from Motorists, Dale loved working with his hands to upgrade and improve his own home, restore and flip other homes, make beer and wine and help neighbors and friends when asked.

He also loved to travel and was able to visit across America, Mexico, England, Ireland, Austria, Germany and Italy.

Mr. Dale J. Kosmatka will be missed greatly.

Visitation will be held at Harlem Road Church, 5520 Harlem Road, Galena, OH 43021 on Thursday, December 8th from 2-4 p.m. followed by a service at 4 p.m. to celebrate Dale's life and concluding with a buffet meal for all of Dale's friends. Pastors Bud Leskovac and Rocky Riddle, officiating.

If you would like to make a donation, please consider either ProMedica Hospice (https://www.promedicahospice.org/Columbus) or Harlem Road Church Missions (harlemroadchurch.org). The first was a God-sent blessing TO Dale and the second was blessed many times BY Dale.

Dale was my boss, my mentor and most importantly, my friend. Yes he was a bit goofy at times, but that was part of his charm. He made me smile and I’m so very grateful to have had him in my life. He was my pal and I loved him. Love to Judy and Family.

I started at Motorists in early 1981. Two years out of college, I was still trying to determine what I wanted to do with my career. I wasn't sure I was cut out to be a programmer. Working with Dale, he challenged me in a way only Dale could. His 'different' leadership style and humor helped me figure out my career goals. Thru his trust in me, I found a path into leadership, which served me well throughout my 42 year career. I will be forever grateful and will always have fond memories of Dale.

Mike and Lori Schrock - Dec 6, 2022

It’s hard to imagine a world without Dale Kosmatka. As I recall good memories with him I just keep coming up with another, then another then another. Every time I saw him meet someone new, by the time we’d leave, he’d have made another friend. He will be missed by all of them, and very much by Lori and me. Love to Judy and Family.
