Charles R. “Chuck” Easter, age 75, of Galena, OH passed away July 15, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Retired from Columbus Fire Department after 35 years with Badge #1. He was a member of the first EMT class in the country. Owner of the former Easter Oil Co.. Graduate of New Albany Plain Township High School and attended Otterbein College where he was a member of Zeta Phi fraternity. Veteran of U. S. Marine Corps. Member of Harlem Road United Methodist Church, Blendon Senior Center and New Albany Lions Club where he is a past president. Survived by is wife of 50 years, Dee; daughters, Kelly Easter, Happy Heather (Shawn) Appleman and Alycia Paige Easter (Keith Hupp); grandchilden, Kasey, Shane and Myriah Child, Ryan and Zach Appleman, Riley and Quinn Hupp; sisters, Patty Geiger and Elsie Lisk; brother, Larry Mattes. Preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Chuck Easter, brother, Jerry Easter and sister, Judy Herb. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., Pastor Bud Leskovac, officiating. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice.
