In Memory of
Catherine Brookie Martin
October 28, 1940 - January 5, 2022

Service:
Spring of 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Brookie Martin, 81, most recently of Bexley, Ohio. Brookie is survived by her son, Bryan (Sarah) Martin; grandchildren, Ayden Scott and Kyler David Martin; sister. Rowlanda Loos; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron and Shirley Martin; many loving nieces and nephews, and an extended family who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband, Scott Joseph Martin; her parents, Julius and Carrie Rowland Lintner; sister, Myfanwy Borel; and brother, Harry Lintner. Brookie grew up in Westerville, Ohio, attending both Westerville High School and Otterbein University, where she met the love of her life, Scott. They were married in 1963 and grew a life and family that was unmatched. Scott and Brookie were partners-in-crime until the end, celebrating daily the best that life had to offer. After retiring from long stints in administration at both The Ohio State University and Battelle, and 50 years of marriage, Brookie, widowed, moved to German Village in 2014 to start her second career as professional Gramma. She lived a full life in both German Village and Bexley, known fondly in both communities as someone who was active, independent, and who lived for her family, especially her grandchildren. Brookie lived her life to the fullest every day, and she was always up for an adventure. Brookie valued the opportunity to thrive as an aging senior in her own home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Village Connections, a Columbus organization dedicated to allowing seniors to stay connected, active and independent while aging in place. We honor Brookie today by focusing on the things that matter most in life; please take a walk with your family, spend time nurturing your soul, or go do something you would never otherwise do. A celebration of life will be held in the spring in Columbus, Ohio. Details will be announced on the Moreland Funeral Home website at www.morelandfuneralhome.com

I live in The Alexander where Brookie lived.I spoke with her several times; I walked my dog down stairs and Brookie was walking up. Not only was Brookie pretty, she was charming, and smart. Brookie had a pussling friend, Guy. Some friends are are more purrfect than others. I trust Brookie's family will honor Guy, in order to honor Brookie. Deepest sympathies, Diane Zodikoff 614-745-1003

Bryan and family, My sincere condolences on the loss of your beautiful mother. I moved into the Alexander last July and Brookie lived 2 doors down from me. I saw her almost everyday, down in the lobby, either coming or going from her daily walk. I would tell her how in awe I was of her, because she walked, no matter how cold or hot, rainy or snowy! One day, last fall, we walked together. I told her I thought that we were the same age, but when she told me she was 81, I couldn't believe it! (I'm 73). We talked about your dad, Scott, and my brother, Scott, who died 6 years ago. I asked her about her name. She told me she didn't drive and she told me all about you and the grandkids. How I wish I could remember what else we talked about! I was in absolute shock when I found out the horrible news, not to mention so very sad. She was so beautiful and youthful. I hope that I can meet you one day. It would be an honor. Again, my sympathies.

I met Brookie not long before she moved from the village. But I always enjoyed running into her at neighborhood events and appreciated her kindness. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. She will be missed by many in our community.

Brookie became a dinner partner of ours at Harvest Pizza in Bexley. GJ (Seckel) and I enjoyed our visits with her so much. We were both shocked to learn of her passing. We know how much she loved her family! She was a truly lovely person.
