STEWART, MARY LOU. Mary Lou Stewart (Kessler), age 94, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 27, 2021. Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was born on May 22, 1927, in Lancaster, Ohio, the tenth of ten children to the late Clarence L. and Jane F. (Schmeltzer) Kessler. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas (Lyda), Michael (Garnett), Herman (Pauline), Ralph (Eileen), Bernard (Jeanette), and Donald Kessler; and sisters, Anne, Marie (William Fagan), and Gertrude (Timothy Linehan). She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Rolland R. (Dick) Stewart and infant daughter, Anna Marie. She is survived by her son Van R. (Mary Martha Marty); grandsons Todd A. (Madonna) and Matthew R. (Betsy) Stewart; great-grandchildren, Mara, Matthew, Alena, Cedric, and Lyla; many dear nieces and nephews. Mary Lou had a devout and deep Faith, and she was a founding member of Saint Elizabeth Parish in Columbus, where she volunteered in many ministries. Later in life, she was a member of Saint Paul the Apostle Parish in Westerville.
She was the epitome of a people person and was always at ease meeting new friends. She never met a stranger. She had many life-long friends, starting with co-workers and customers at the Lazarus Beauty Salon, in downtown Columbus, where she was a popular hair stylist; with fellow parents at Saint Augustine Elementary School and Saint Charles Preparatory, some of which lasted for many years; with neighbors at the Devonshire and Windemere neighborhoods; and finally, with the residents and staff at the Inn at Bear Trail. There were countless other friendships along the way, and many of her dearest friends have preceded her on her journey.
The family expresses their appreciation to the staff of the Inn at Bear Trail and to the caring Staff at Capitol City Hospice whose loving care eased her journey and her familys. Visitation will be 9:30 10:30 am, Monday, July 12, 2021, at Saint Paul the Apostle Church, 313 North State Street, Westerville, Ohio. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am at Saint Paul's. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 High St. Lewis Center, OH 43035. The celebration of Mary Lou's life will continue with a luncheon at The Safari Golf Event Center, 4853 Powell Road, Powell Ohio, 43065 (Across from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium).
