In Memory of
James Richard O'Donnell
March 7, 1938 - May 20, 2021

Service:
Thursday, June 3rd 10 a.m. at Blendon Central Cemetery

Interment:
Blendon Central Cemetery

James "Jim" Richard O'Donnell died Thursday, May 20, 2021 of natural causes. He was preceded in death by parents Emma (Wenger) and Martin and his beloved wife of 50 years, Judy (Calhoun). Jim is survived by his children and their spouses, Joel and Daneille O'Donnell & Jill and John O'Neill, granddaughters, Ande O'Neill and Jude & Maggie O'Donnell and great-grandson, Toren Barr; brother Martin (Catherine) of South Carolina; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

Jim was born, raised and lived his life in Central Ohio, spending many years as a resident of Westerville. A graduate of Holy Rosary high school (56) and Franklin University (74), he was a firm believer in the power of education to change lives. Jim was a lifelong Catholic, and attended mass at both St. Paul in Westerville, and Church of the Resurrection in New Albany. He was a member of the Naval Reserves, and retired from a long career in Information Systems with Nationwide Insurance, Coopers and Lybrand (now PWC) and Iron Mountain Recovery. He spent 10 years of his retirement enjoying a second-act working at Home Depot. His love of technology carried over into his hobbies, building the first color-tv in his familys home, operating HAM radio (WA8BME) and could be found at his desk in front of his computer late into the night. This interest carried through his life to the last day, where he read aloud the Gadgets & Gizmos section in his assisted-living facilitys Daily Activities. He spent many of his best days riding his bike all over Ohio, serving as both a radio operator and rider in TOSRV. He never lost his love of biking, and spoke often of the wonderful times spent riding. Jim enjoyed camping and hunting, reading sci-fi, telling dad-jokes and a cold beer and pizza in the sunshine with his family.

Family and friends will join for a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Blendon Central Cemetery, corner of Hempstead and Dempsey Roads, Westerville, OH, Rev. Fr. Jerome P. Rodenfels, presiding.

Please raise a glass to Jim!
