Interment:
Private - Blendon Central Cemetery

Dorothy Deibel (nee Forsythe) died on 6 August 2019 at Feridean Commons in Westerville, Ohio. She was 92. Dorothy was born in New Concord, Ohio, on 28 April 1927, to Ralph and Elsie Forsythe. She earned a B.A. from Muskingum College in 1949, and M.Ed. degrees from the Ohio State University in 1974, and Ashland College in 1981. She married Roger Deibel in 1950. Dorothy taught middle school Language Arts in the Westerville public system for most of her career. Mrs. Deibel was a long-time member of the Church of the Messiah United Methodist Church in Westerville, and an enthusiastic member and officer of the Sunbury Lions Club. She enjoyed attending the Otterbein University Artist Series and Summer Theater over the years. Dorothy is survived by her sister Marion; her children Don (Marcia), Marie, and Karen (Sheila); three grandchildren, Scott, Brian, and Matthew (Laura); two great grandchildren, Kayla, and Austin; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger, and her brother, Richard. Mrs. Deibel will be buried in a private ceremony at the Blendon Cemetery in Westerville. At her request, there will be no public service. Dorothy's children would like to thank the nurses and aides at Feridean Commons, Visiting Angels and National Church Hospice for their loving care of their mother. Dorothy was fortunate to have several other caregivers who provided much comfort. We are grateful.

Marie - I'm so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I haven't been back to Westerville since my parents passed away (4 months apart) in 2004 & 2005. I usually haven't responded to the announcements for our class that are sent out, but you were always so sweet to me (and you were so popular and I wasn't) during high school. I hope the 2022 50th reunion is someplace nice (or should it be held where we had most of our proms? I have no idea what kind of shape it's in). I hope to attend and have alerted the 2 people I've kept in touch from our class (other than Pat Lalama) that if they don't go I won't either. Give yourself time to grieve your Mom's passing. I gather she lived a long and happy life. Bev Puckett

To the family of Dorothy, Dorothy and I were classmates for 12 years in New Concord schools. . I remember her vividly as one of the "brightest" in the graduating class of 1945 and one of the nicest, too.! I also had an opportunity to know Roger as a fellow educator. While Dorothy was a "townee" and I a country bumpkin, there was never a sense of being looked down upon. She was one fine person. Kathy and my condolences go out to your family. Dorothy was a wonderful teacher and a colleague of mine at Blendon Middle School, where we both taught until I moved to Heritage M.S. when it opened. I respected her greatly, as she was a quiet, effective leader in the school. She was kind and helpful, as well.

I taught with Dorothy form 1969-1982. Though she taught in the "Quad", she accepted me as a math person. She was a super lady, one that we'll both miss.

Dorothy was a very professional teacher, a tremendous asset to our staff at Blendon Middle School. In addition, she was a good and loyal friend. We fellow staff members will always remember her, also, as a very fair and able leader. She was personally very kind to me, and I will remember that with gratitude. Please accept my sympathy.

DOROTHY WAS A GREAT TEACHER AND FRIEND TO ME AT BLENDON MIDDLE SCHOOL FROM 1975 UNTIL MY RETIREMENT IN 1990 AND YEARS LATER. SHE OFFERED MUCH TO HER STUDENTS AND TO HER PEERS. I VERY MUCH ADMIRED HER BOTH AS TEACHER AND AS WEA (WESTERVILLE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION) LEADER. SHE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY.
