Delbert Edison Goad, 97 of Columbus, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was a loving husband and father. Delbert was born on June 14, 1921 in New Lebanon, Ohio to William Curtis goad and Glenna May Drayer. He graduated from Farmersville High School in 1937. After graduation he started working for the Frigidaire Division of General Mortors in Dayton, retiring from there after 40 years. During WWII he joined the Army and had the grade of Staff Sergeant T-3, 1st Signal Troup, 1st Cavalry Division. On April 21, 1945, he married Grace Lucille Gorsuch. They raised two daughters. Delbert was an active member of Ft. McKinley Church in Dayton, Ohio, serving as a Sunday school teacher, trustee, and chairman of the building committee. In later years he belonged to the St. James Methodist Church in Miamisburg, Ohio. He also was 32nd degree Mason in Dayton Lodge #147 and a member of the Scottish Rite. HIs passion was wood working. He spent many hours in his shop and shared his talents with family and friends. Delbert was preceded in death by his loving wife Grace of 73 years. His survived by his two daughters, Sonja (Thomas) Tweedle of Millersport and Beverly (Garold) Phipps of Westerville, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and sister, Ruby Coffman of Eaton, Ohio. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, Friday 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. wit service to follow at 11:30 a.m., Rev. Scott Tweedle officiating. Interment in New Jersey Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Honor Flight of columbus, Ohio.
