Dwight Davis

Dwight Davis, age 96, of Westerville, Ohio went to be with the Lord, November 1, after a brief illness. Dwight was born February 1, 1922 in Heaters, West Virginia. He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a tailgunner in the Army Air Corp while stationed in Germany. His B-17 was shot down and Dwight became a prisoner of war for 10 months. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia University. On October 16, 1948 he and Elma Jane Moats were united in Marriage at Wesley Methodist Church in Morgantown, West Virginia. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He is survived by wife Jane, son Scott Davis, and daughter Rebecca Powers; grandchildren Matthew Powers, Joshua Powers, Jennifer Carruth (Powers) Emma Davis, and Molly Powers; great-grandchildren Patrick and Katherine Powers. A memorial service will be held a later time.

I met Mr. Davis by chance last year while he was shopping at Office Max. We had a great conversation about military planes and his time in the service. It was a brief encounter, but I never forgot him. He was an interesting and charming guy. I wish I had known him better. My condolences to all who knew and loved him. Martin Richardson Westerville
