Russell A. Fichtelman, 80, of Sunbury, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 19, 2018. Russell was born February 13, 1938 in Westerville and spent most of his life in Sunbury, OH. Russell was a cheerful person and a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Russell was a dairy farmer for 70 plus years. Thanks to Lifeline of Ohio, he is an 11-year liver transplant survivor. After retirement, he kept busy attending his grandchildren's many activities: 4-H shows, basketball games, softball games, baseball games, track meets, piano concerts, band concerts, choir concerts. He also enjoyed playing cards and board games. He was the reigning Chinese Checker Champ of the family. Russell was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Nelson and Anna Fichtelman. Survived by his beloved wife of over 57 years, Karen; five loving children, Andrew (Becky) Fichtelman of Sunbury, Marcia (Jim) Walters of Sunbury, Linda Fichtelman of Westerville, Amy (Ron) Revadelo of Whitehall, and Laura (Gary) McGlothlin of Sunbury; he also is survived by his sixteen grandchildren, Whitney, Cooper, and Allison McGlothlin of Sunbury; Rebekah, Jessica, and Calista Revadelo of Whitehall; Megan, Nicole, Stacey, and Jordan Walters of Sunbury; Tina (Kevin) Gall of Croton, Kevin, Kyle, and Keith McBride of Sunbury; Kory and Kollin Byrne of Sunbury; and 2 great-grandchildren, Conor and Owen Gall; sister, Mary Lou Soltesz, of Flagstaff, AZ; and brother, Martin (Thelma) Fichtelman, of Waverly; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and many loving friends. He will be sadly missed by all. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and later at Grace Lutheran Church of Centerburg. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Rd. Westerville, Tuesday, July 24, 2018, 4-7 p.m. and Wednesday July 25, 1-2 p.m. where service will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 2 p.m. Interment Trenton Cemetery.
