Betty Hollis Dove, age 97, of Centerburg, passed away May 3, 2018. Graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1939 and St. Frances School of Nursing in 1942. Employed by Mercy Hospital in Mt. Vernon for many years. Member of Centerburg United Methodist Church where she was church organist for 25 years and member of the Joyfull Tones Bell Choir; also member and past president of Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, American Legion Auxiliary, Alpha Club and 70 year member of Manila Chapter and Knox Chapter of Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron several times, organist and Grand Representative. She taught ceramics in her home for 30 years and Ohio Eastern Star Home where she was a volunteer as well as at the Golden Age Club. She enjoyed the activities at Centerburg Senior Center. Survived by her sons, Larry (Debra) of Lancaster and Richard (Saundra) of Centerburg; grandchildren, Nicole (Aaron) Acox of Worthington, Rachel (Michael) Daniels of New York and Michael (Emily) of Marysville; 5 great-grandchildren; niece, Nancy (Terry) of Oklahoma; great-niece and great-nephew. Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jack Dove in 2003; parents, Katharyne and Albert Hollis; step-parents, Hester Hollis and Scott Brown. Friends may call at the JOHNSON-MELICK-MORELAND FUNERAL HOME 49 W. Church Street, Centerburg, Tuesday 5-8 p.m. where service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.. Interment Eastview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Centerburg Senior Center or Hospice of Knox County.
