Ann Elizabeth Cherry Pryfogle, 80, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on February 14th, 2018, after an extended illness. Ann was born in Altoona, PA, where she earned her nursing certification during a time when "respectable girls did not go into nursing". She came to Otterbein to earn additional degrees and spent most of her career there, serving the Westerville community and Otterbein students at the Health Center. Ann never knew a stranger and contributed to the community as a Zoo Docent, member of the Westerville Historical Society, Westerville Citizens Police Academy, the Lions Club and many other civic organizations. She was the ultimate animal lover, bringing home many strays over the years. Preceded in death by husband of 48 years, Larry Pryfogle, and parents Howard and Juliette Cherry. Survived by son, Scott (Robin) Pryfogle, grandchildren, Zachary and Maya, sister-in-law, Kim (Jim) Reed; brother, Phil Esper; sister, Sandy Hofmann, and several nephews and nieces. She is also survived by very special companion, Harry Henthorne (to whom the family is very grateful for his support and friendship), and furry pal, Noah. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 18th from 2-4 p.m. at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio where service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19th, Pastor David Hedrick, officiating. Friends, if they wish, may contribute to the Columbus Zoo or Citizens for Humane Action. Online condolences to www.morelandfuneralhome.com.

As a student at Otterbein in the early 2000's, Ann was so much more than my school nurse. She was like family. She was a mother away from home and in my last few college years, she became my neighbor. I am so sorry for your loss. Ann was a great person!

I just learned about Ann's death thanks to the Spring 2018 Otterbein Towers magazine. I am a sports medicine physician who helped cover the sports teams at Otterbein with Dr. Freeman from 1994-2000. I also saw students in the student health center. Ann was an exceptional nurse, but an even better person. I moved to Pittsburgh late in 2000. I talked with her on the phone a handful of times since then. The most recent was probably 2 years ago, but as you can tell, we lost contact. I am so thankful to have known her. I'm sure you think of her every day. I hope you can look back and say she had a great life. She positively affected a lot of young co-eds.
