Shirley Bracken McJunkin, Beloved Mother and Grandmother passed away peacefully on September 20th, surrounded by loving family and friends. Raised in Indiana, Pennsylvania, she began her teaching degree at Indiana State Teachers College, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, finishing it at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio in 1958. A lifelong teacher, she taught at Westerville High School in the 1960s, then after raising her family, taught pre-school at Central College Presbyterian Church for 29 years, where she and Charles were active members for decades. She enjoyed bridge with her friends and eating ice cream with her grandchildren. She was very appreciative of the great friends in her neighborhood and loving caregiver Flora Pollack, who helped her to live in her house until she passed. She was a caring mother and grandmother to Kevin (Monica) McJunkin of Westerville, Karen (Jeff) Lohr of Clintonville, and Krista (Rick) Lopez of Grandview Heights; grandsons Adam and Tom McJunkin; and granddaughters Viviana and Chiara Lopez. Shirley was also survived by her sister Larue McCardle of Dayton, OH; sister-in-law Mary Ann (Larry) Sharp; nieces and nephews, Deb (Ken) Hawking, Bruce (Loree) Sharp, Beth Sharp, Steve McCardle and Molly (Dave) Thurman. Preceded in death by husband Charles D McJunkin; parents Ralph and Lillian Bracken; and brother-in-Law Bill McCardle. Family will receive friends on Monday, September 25th from 4-6p.m. at the Ballard Hall at Central College Presbyterian Church, 975 S. Sunbury Rd, Westerville, where service will be held immediately following the reception in the Chapel, with Reverend Dr. Richard Ellsworth, officiating. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Otterbein Theatre in Westerville or Westerville Symphony.
